Plessen Healthcare is now offering COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) antibody testing by appointment or walk-in at our Orange Grove medical campus. Medicare, MAP, and most insurance accepted. Affordable self-pay rates. Walk-ins are welcome.
What is an Antibody Test?
Antibody or serology screening test is designed to detect immune proteins IgM and IgG that are produced by the immune system to fight the infection. The presence of these antibodies may indicate exposure to COVID-19 at some time in the past.
The IgM antibody shows up between 6 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. The IgG antibody is detected later and may indicate long-term immunity. The timing of the antibody test affects accuracy. If testing is done too early in the course of infection when the immune response is still building up, the test may not detect antibodies. We recommend that you wait at least seven (7) days after onset of symptoms before getting tested.
The World Health Organization (WHO) cautions that there is a lack of evidence on whether having antibodies means you are protected against reinfection with COVID-19. The level of immunity and how long immunity lasts are not yet known.
Should I be Tested?
If you believe you have been exposed to COVID-19 or have had symptoms in the past, you may be a good candidate for this test.

Caution Advisory:
Although this test has NOT been reviewed by the FDA, the test underwent Validation of Proficiency Testing according to the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations.
Results from antibody testing should not be used as the sole basis to diagnose or exclude COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) infection or to inform infection status. A Negative test result does not rule out possible COVID-19 infection.
